🖥️ Hosting change

Hosting migration and hosting change with a planned switch

A hosting change is not just copying files. It also covers email, the domain, the database, the SSL certificate, DNS configuration and testing — so that everything works after the switch just as before.

What the service includes

Hosting migration is more than copying files

Companies often think hosting is just the site's files. In reality most hosting also holds the database, mail accounts with message history and the SSL certificate — and each of these needs separate attention during migration.

Analysis of the current hosting

We check exactly what's on the current server — files, databases, email, certificates, PHP version.

Help choosing new hosting

If you haven't chosen a provider yet, we can recommend hosting suited to your needs.

Website or WordPress migration

We copy the files and database, configure wp-config.php and verify the site works on the new server.

Email Migration

Migration of mailboxes, aliases and message history over IMAP. MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC configuration.

Databases

Export, import and verification of the MySQL database on the new server. Updating the application's configuration data.

SSL and security

Installing and configuring the SSL certificate on the new hosting. Enforcing HTTPS in the site configuration.

DNS configuration

Updating DNS records so the domain points to the new hosting once testing is complete.

Testing and verification

Checking the site, forms, login, email and SSL certificate before switching DNS.

Safely retiring the old hosting

Cancelling the old hosting only after confirming the new environment works fully correctly.

⚠️

Don't shut down the old hosting too early

First you make a backup, move the data, test the new environment and only then switch the domain. Cancelling the old hosting before testing can end in the loss of the site, email or data — especially if DNS propagation hasn't fully finished.

We follow this order in every migration.

When to migrate

When is it worth changing hosting and moving your site?

🐢

The site is slow

Slow hosting is one of the most common reasons to switch. Moving to a faster server can significantly improve load time.

💥

Frequent outages

Unstable hosting leads to site downtime, email problems and lost customers. Time to switch.

🤷

No technical support

If your hosting provider doesn't respond to problems or offer help, that's a clear sign to switch.

💸

Hosting is too expensive

Paying for hosting that can't keep up with your site? We'll help you find better value for money.

🔧

Need for a newer PHP version

Older hosting often doesn't support current PHP versions, which blocks WordPress and plugin updates.

🛒

Your shop needs a stronger environment

A high-traffic online shop needs a more powerful server. We'll help you migrate without a break in sales.

Process

How a hosting change and data migration work

1

Analysis of the current environment

We check what's on the hosting: files, databases, mail accounts, domains, certificates and the PHP version.

2

Backup

We make a full backup of files and database before starting the migration.

3

Preparing the new hosting

We set up the new environment: PHP version, databases, mail accounts, SSL certificate.

4

Data migration to the new hosting

We move the files, database and mail accounts to the new hosting.

5

Testing on the new environment

We test the site before the DNS change — checking the site, forms, email and SSL certificate.

6

Domain switch

We update the DNS records after confirming everything works. We monitor propagation.

7

Confirmation and completion

We check everything after DNS propagation. We only switch off the old hosting once the new environment works correctly.

FAQ

Hosting change — common questions

Yes, to download the files and database we need access to the panel (cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin) or FTP and phpMyAdmin. If you don't have full access, we can help arrange it.
Only after testing is complete and DNS has fully propagated — i.e. once the new environment works correctly. Don't cancel the old hosting before we confirm.
Yes, migrating mail accounts is a standard part of a hosting change. We move accounts, aliases and message history over IMAP and configure SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.
The data migration itself usually takes a few hours. After the DNS switch you wait for propagation — from a few to 24 hours. We plan the migration so this time is as short as possible.
We aim to minimise downtime. For most of the migration the site runs on the old hosting. A short outage can occur only at the DNS switch, but we plan that moment carefully.
Yes — if you haven't chosen a provider yet, we can recommend hosting suited to your type of site, traffic and budget.

Before you cancel the old hosting, let's check what needs to be secured.

Not sure which migration scope applies to your site? Use the configurator or describe your situation in the form. We'll work out whether you need a website, email, hosting or server migration, or a repair after an earlier migration.
